Chapter 2 Installation and Uninstallation
2.1 Requirements
Before installing KV2006, please take a moment to review the following requirements.
Hardware requirements
l Intel Pentium 233 MHz processor or higher
l 128MB RAM or higher
l 150 MB available space on your hard drive or higher
l Super VGA 800*600 or higher
l Keyboard, mouse and CD-ROM drive
System requirements
l Windows 98 Second Edition
l Windows Me
l Windows NT 4.0
l Windows 2000 Professional / Server / Advanced Server
l Windows XP Home Edition / Professional (32 bit/64 bit)
l
Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition /
(32 bit/64 bit)
Multi language versions
l Simplified Chinese
l Traditional Chinese
l English
l Japanese
Note: KV2006 can automatically identify the language setting of your computer. If the language setting in your computer is NOT included in the above-mentioned, the default is English. Here is all in English version.
Other requirements
l Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher
l Before you install KV2006, you must prepare your computer first. Please do the following:
If you have installed an earlier product of Jiangmin Antivirus, you must uninstall it before installing KV2006.
If you have any other antivirus programs on your computer, you must uninstall them and restart your computer before installing KV2006.
Close all other Windows programs before installing KV2006,including those programs that are displayed in the Windows system tray.
2.2 Installation
Make sure that your computer has met the above-mentioned requirements before installation. Then do the following:
Step1. Insert KV 2006 installation disk into CD-ROM drive, and then click Install KV 2006 to begin the installation.
And then:
Step2. Click Next to continue, or you may click Abort? to quit installation.
Step3. Read the License Agreement. If you agree to the terms of the license agreement, click Yes?If you decline, you cannot continue with the installation.
Step4. Choose either of the following methods to register
This is the most important step of installation.
There are TWO choices for you.
You can either input your KV serial number or enter License file to continue installation. The serial number is laid in the first page of KV2006 users guide. But if you have already registered a Jiangmin Passport which described in Chapter 3, you can choose Browse to choose your registered License file of JIANGMIN to continue.
In order to update installed KV2006 properly, users MUST register in Jiangmin website, and get a user name and password correspondent with that KV2006 installed serial number. By these users can download themselves Jiangmin License file in Jiangmin website in case of lost KV serial number card. Detailed information is described in the Chapter 3.
Step5. Select a folder into which you install KV2006
During this step, the default installation path is F:\Program File\KV2006. You can change to save it under another folder by using "Browse". Click "Next" to proceed.
Step6. Scan your system before installing
Click "Scan your System before Installing"
to scan your computer before installation. This is a very important step to
make sure that there are NO
viruses that resident in memory during the installation of KV2006.
Perform scanning as follows:
If there are no viruses found, it will show:
Click "OK"
If you directly skip scanning, click "Next" to proceed with the installation.
Step7. Finish setup
After installation, you can select one of the following choices below.
a) I haven't passport, apply now! (Default)
b) I have passport, update at once!
c) Run KV2006 to scan all disks!
Notice: "Passport" has the same function as "License" in Jiangmin Antivirus Software.
If you havent applied Jiangmin Passport, you can apply at once. Just choose a) and click Finish.(This requires an Internet access), but this is maybe in Chinese website: http://club.jiangmin.com. You can skip this and select Run KV2006 to scan all disksĦħ.
If you have Jiangmin Passport, you can choose b) and click Finish to update
2.3 Uninstallation
1. Click Control Panel -> Add or Remove
Programs - > Jiangmin Antivirus 2006 -
> Change/Remove
2. Click Start -> All Programs-> Jiangmin Antivirus -> Uninstall KV2006
Notice: If you want to re-install KV 2006
after uninstallation, you`d better backup you License file before you uninstall
it and make sure where you have saved it. The time length of KV 2006 is stored
in that License file, and it can be re-subscribed and reactivated. Backup
license file can be done by KV2006 (Service -> Obtain License). In order to
get license file, users must input your Jiangmin passport username and
password. Detailed information can be found in Chapter
at once.(This also needs an Internet access) This must be done if you have a user name and password.
If you want to scan your computer now, choose c), and then click Finish
